Recreational sports

Sport for All, peer activity and opportunities for equipment testing

Recreational sports offer an opportunity for a lifespan of physical activity.

Peer activity

Peer activity brings people together and gives new spark to physical activity. The regional contact persons and regional coordinators of the Finnish Paralympic Committee support the regional activity. Shared events of different disability groups bring people together.

Nationally and locally

“Kuntokuu” is a month-long recreational sports campaign that moves the members of the Finnish Paralympic Committee as well as the others twice a year, in February and in September. A wide range of nationwide recreational sports events are organized by adapting the “together and apart” principle that takes account the specific peer activity needs of different disabilities and long term illnesses.

Adapted physical activity equipment

The Finnish Paralympic Committee's rental service for adapted physical activity equipment offers rental and testing services and helps disabled people to find suitable equipment by giving advice and consultant statements. Rental service cooperates with event organizers and takes part in development processes of sports and physical activity equipment. Finnish Paralympic Committee rents sport and physical activity equipments for everybody regardless of disability, diagnosis or organizational borderlines. Most of the equipment is suitable for persons who can move independently.
